More summer summaries...

Who doesn't love a good ol' Chicago street fest? We try to go to as many as possible....until you realize they are pretty much all the same vendors. We really liked the Retro on Roscoe fest, especially the ice cream. Another favorite was the Burger Fest. I like any excuse to eat burgers in the street with a fresh glass of Sangria.

1,2,3 weeeeeeee

This year we discovered a small street fest right on Tisha & James' block. Too bad it was the hottest day of the year and the bounce house was smack in the middle of the sun, near the pony rides. Sadly, they managed to have the worst Pad Thai and gyros ever. On the other hand, the sangria was tasty. The best part was the live band we rocked out to from the comfort of their front yard. Next year will have big plans. We will take advantage of the entertainment while relaxing with good food and brilliantly stocked coolers.

MACG-48 Family Day

Marine Air Control Group 48 held their Family Day on July 3rd on the base at Great Lakes. It felt like the coldest day EVER, even though the forcast said it would be a beautiful summer day. The wind and rain kept most people hiding in the food tents for most of the event. The sun finally came out and we were able to enjoy some of the activities with the girls. There was a bounce house, a petting zoo and much much more. My parents joined us and we salvaged the day in the end. Luckily, the event was moved from the day after the USMC birthday ball, when no one wants to wake up early. Hopefully next year will be nicer outside and we can enjoy all of the activities.

WTTW Fun and Run with the Haime family!

On July 17th, we met Scotty, Danyel, Lincoln and Kingston near Lincoln Park Zoo for the annual WTTW Fun and Run. Justin ran the 5K and we did the 3K. After the run, we were able to walk around and meet all of the characters from channel 11. The girls had a blast. It was great to see the excitement in the kids face's. It was a perfect day and we came home with pooped kids and lots of fun samples. Can't wait for next year. Taking it all in......
